Lay down
01:36
|
|
||
welcome traveller
dock your bones
cool your throat
and lay down
restless gambler
share your load
sing your song
and lay down
your guns
welcome travellers
pick your mountain
and light your candles
on it's side
far from the city
and all it's motion
beside the ocean
lay down

Friendly wind
04:16
|
|
||
have you heard the roumors, darlin'
did you hear the gossip, kid
many folks are flyin' over
hope to find half-empty ships
in the mornin' see them runnin' down the mountain
into the stream
with a tambourine
did you hear the stories, brother
about that ocean's special gift
blowing from Canary Islands
to the borders of Brazil
did somebody tell you 'bout the boats that gone south
or how they swing
on a friendly wind
did you read my letter, mama
have you heard the radio, miss
lovely birds keep comin' over
hope to finally spread their wings
in the evenings see them gather in a big ring
around the fire
where they dance and sing
have you read the papers, Johnny
did you watch the news, Irene
some men sail for expedition
some they go for medicine
listen brothers, attention sisters all aboard now
let's have a trip
on that pirate's ship
did you watch the telly, grandma
have you seen the posts, grandson
many boats are sailin' over
mid-october brings them all
did you hear about folks setting for the sun, dear
or how they cheer
and then disappear?

Takora
06:11
|
|
||
you are a clown
you have a wonderful laughter
you have a plan
to make them people laugh
you're like a child
your tears are shining like diamonds
under the sun
we shared a golden bath
remember that day
you bugged a sleeping caveman
asking for shelter
and he took you both inside
this was the time
your little tribe was born
the rain didn't fall
the wind was howlin' wild
remember that night
we we're lying next to the ocean
the moon was a tailor's
forgotten golden stripe
you sang me a song
a melody from Iran
I was your cat
your knees there were my land
after a while
I was trying to paint you darling
capture your smile
and lay it in the sound
but I couldn't make it
so I kindly asked the ocean
the winds and the sands
to join my one man band
back in your town
you grow a beautiful garden
where you are a queen
for every little plant
under your crown
your hair wave black like nighttime
the dots 'round your eyes
describe your state of mind
Takora, Takora, Takora, Takora

Wild child
05:09
|
|
||
a wild child's livin' on the cliff
you probly passed him on your way sometime
his cave looks very nice indeed
with many palm leaves all around
fifteen feet above the sea
for this he travelled more than thousand miles
but now he's chillin' in the breeze
and learns to wake up with the sun
this wild kid's trusting every wind
doesn't force his horse to ride in line
rarely worries 'bout a thing
always up for a surprise
mostly wanderin' on his own
connected only to the wildest plants
at night he's playin' with a bow
with a sparkle in his eye
so hold on lovely child
your tribe is waking up
hold on till dawn
a wild cat sleeping on his knees
while he sings beside the burnin' fire
drowned some fears out on the beach
covered all the past with rocks
felt the skies inside himself
left aside the shelves with good and bad
an' gone dancin' on a spider's web
between the beautiful and mad
so come 'round moonlight find
come 'round and join your kind
come 'round and stay wild
wild kids livin' in a dream
they don't waste their ink on namin' stars
or drawing borders in the stream
between the water and a drop
so children can't you hear my call
won't you come out of your frozen wells
spring is knocking at your door
time to join her carousel

Like the river
04:29
|
|
||
first they arrive like the river
and then they're gone like the river
and then they're gone...
first they are born in the mountains of the north
from the rhythm and then they fall
and as they roll down the valleys
fuelled by snow of the winter they spring and grow
with no alarm, flash of lightning or a roar
of the thunder before they come
they reach the farm in the nighttime
flood the barn, tear the levee and then they're gone
back into the the ocean they float
ready to rock my boat
first they appear like the angels
like a choir send from heavens and life's a song
yet they are merely just the sirens
chanting 'sailors..come to our shores'
they'll stand and wave on an island from your dreams
so invitingly swing their kites
next day unfold, turn to pirates, take your gold,
drink your liquor and then they're gone
straight into the ocean to float
get ready to rob my boat
soon they'll arrive at the stations of your town
wearing flower crowns in their hair
willing to stare at the sunrise
from your bathtub at the bay
they will arise in the moonlight in the vines
hypnotize you with golden rings
then hold you dear in the lavendery fields
quietly ready to disappear
back into the ocean to float
where sailors repeat this quote

Overseas
05:06
|
|
||
let me go
let me go overseas
time will blow
tear my old insecurity
let me go
let me go overseas
time will blow
and time will heal
every little tree, hold on
let me go
let me go overseas
let me go
let me steer happy on my ship
let me go
let me go overseas
time will show what it holds
no one here believes these songs will reach your shore
but I know it won't be long
my voice seems dark and cold
when all it knows is home, hold on
let me go
let me go overseas
let me go
let me grow independently
show me love
show me love overseas
let me go
and kiss the lips of possibility

Spanish horse
02:24
|
|
||
the Spanish horse
the Spanish horseland
eternal spring is born again
the hidden beach
the little girls there
the time they swing their tambourines
the moon we loved to paint
the land that drives insane the heart
way in a long song-town of Spain
the Spanish boats
old mountain roads
the restless sea along the cliff
the morning comes
the highway gruffs
the highway sneaks among the breeze
so soon I have to go
up north where my ships belong
and plan again
a long sing-trip to Spain
the Spanish horse

Postcard from the north
02:56
|
|
||
you have called yourself a flower
didn't use your old name
flew all the way from Sweden
and moved into a cave
you arranged it quite nicely
kept everything in shells
pots and mugs were hangin' 'round the fire-place
always first to great the ocean
still the last to go to sleep
your ambition was to see the sun
on the west side of that hill
then you lied among the oysters
and met fishes in your dreams
crabs and lobsters gathered 'round your tired feet
you have called yourself a flower
wore a meadow in your hair
your religion was to heal the heart
of everything out there
now we wandered off that island
to play busy in our homes
yet I hope you'll smell that southern breeze
on this postcard from the north
